The pattern of the big can be seen in the small. 7 seems to be an important number in nature. 7 years is a dispensation, 7 days is a week. The human body is built on similar parameters than the planet, galaxy, or universe. Certain numbers keep reappearing in science such as 3, 5, 7, 12, etc… Music is also based on numerology.
So the seven chakras of the human body correspond to nature. In addition, there is a physiological way of seeing the chakras as corresponding to seven important glands located on or near the spine. So there are seven gates to being fully realized.
